The Long Awaited Update!

Naomi pioneered the Mercy in Action Clinic in the slums of metro Manila in October of 2004. Over 1300 babies had been born at the clinic, when last summer some (corrupt) local officials stopped the clinic from operating. Eventually it became clear that the free services Naomi offered to the poor were considered an economic threat by certain influential persons who regularly profited from oppressing the poor for medical services.

After battling for several months with the Filipino bureaucracy over the clinic’s status, permits were finally issued to allow the clinic to re-open.  However, while Naomi was in the midst of overcoming those legal oppositions, back in the US, Mercy in Action, (the organization Naomi worked with to start the Manila clinic), for unrelated reasons,  resigned  from their affiliation with the Vineyard denomination and made a decision to pull all their missionaries out of the Manila area. Mercy chose to close the clinic permanently, primarily for economic reasons. It was a decision that was obviously a disappointment for Naomi and Michelle, but the hand of the Lord would soon be evident despite this heartache.

After much prayer and inquiry, Naomi felt the Lord had not released her from caring for the poor in the Manila slums. She decided to stay in the same area and start a brand new work with only the help of her Florida church, family and friends.

It’s been quite an adventure for the past few months!  God has opened amazing new doors. Curiously, many of these doors of new relationships with Filipinos might never have opened had not there been the earlier opposition. Naomi G. Hamilton, RN
Naomi is working closely with Filipino nationals to continue her work and extend her mission.  She has now been officially recognized as a minister by the Filipino Assemblies of God. She is working hand in hand with an indigenous church to reach the poorest of the poor with the love of Jesus Christ. Naomi’s vision is to help and teach Filipinos how to meet the needs of their own people.Copyright © 2003 "Mission of Destiny". All rights reserved.
As she works with the poor living in the slums, Naomi is focusing on four primary areas of serving: Feeding hungry children, meeting basic medical needs, providing midwifery services (prenatal care and home births), and the establishment of “Safe Refuge”, a  ministry to rescue victims of the Asian sex industry.

Some Immediate Needs
• New Laptop. In September, Naomi’s apartment was broken into and her laptop computer was stolen (which explains why you have not received newsletters or emails!) This is a critical resource for Naomi’s work and will need to be replaced.

• Greater financial resources. The expanded vision requires a significant increase in resources. Renting the building as a missions base and for establishment of “Safe Refuge” was a step of faith. God has always met Naomi’s needs through every step of faith. With this step Naomi’s monthly budget will almost double.

Prayer Points
• Pray that God will speak to more hearts about supporting Naomi’s ministry.
• Pray for protection on Naomi and those working with her.
• Pray for wisdom, direction and supernatural favor in these new areas of ministry.
• Prayer for Naomi’s physical strength.
• Pray that God leads Naomi to the women He has specifically called them to rescue through “Safe Refuge.” The apparent need is huge and space is limited, so Naomi needs wisdom on when to say “yes” and when to say “no.”

Thanks for your prayers and financial help!
